- Strap which holds a shield up the shoulders or neck.

- Form of a helmet with a distinctively curved brim and a high crest.

- A slow-burning cord of hemp or flax soaked in saltpetre and then dried. Used to ignite cannon and hand guns.

- Wooden Roman throwing stick with a spiked head; attached to user's arm with a strap which enabled it to be retrieved after it had been thrown.
